HONEYWELL Thermostats
Honeywell is the leading manufacturer of thermostats in the world, and they care a lot
about you and your comfort. Whether you are building a new
home or upgrading your current heating equipment, Honeywell has the right thermostat for you.
Air Mechanical Inc., an official Honeywell Perfect Climate Dealer (PCD),
can assist you in selecting a thermostat that meets your needs.
Thermostats Terminology
Conventional Forced Air:
Conventional forced air systems rely on a central fan in the heating
and cooling equipment to distribute conditioned air throughout the house.
The heat is provided by burning Natural Gas, Propane, Electricity, or Oil.
Heat Pump:
A Heat pump is a reversible compressor that produces air conditioning
and heating from the same unit. A reversing valve changes direction of
the refrigerant through the compressor depending upon what the thermostat
is set to. (heating or cooling) Heat Pumps require a specific type of
thermostat different from a Conventional Forced Air System.
Multi-Stage:
A multi-stage system can provide more than one amount (stage) of heating or cooling.
For example, it may run on low speed during mild outdoor temperatures and on a high
speed when needed to overcome extreme outdoor temperatures.
Non-Programmable Thermostat:
A non-programmable thermostat has the ability to regulate room temperature
to one desired setpoint. The setting on the thermostat must be manually
changed if a new temperature setpoint is desired.
Programmable Thermostat:
Programmable thermostats allow flexibility to homeowners because they can
be programmed to match their lifestyle. A programmable thermostat will keep
you and your home comfortable while you are there to enjoy it, and will change
the setpoint at programmed times to an energy savings level when you are not home.
By simply planning your schedule, you can enjoy the benefits of personalized
comfort and enhanced energy savings.
Zoning:
Zoning is simply a way of dividing your home into areas with similar heating and cooling needs.
By providing one thermostat for each area the homeowner is able to customize different
rooms in the home to different temperatures. To learn more about Zoning,

Honeywell Thermostats Benefits
Energy Efficiency
Today's thermostats operate a differential of +- 1 degree F.
By keeping your room temperature close to this setpoint you will
be saving more energy than a less accurate thermostat.
Programmable vs Non-programmable.
A programmable thermostat automatically sets back the temperature
in your home based upon a predetermined schedule, While a non-programmable
thermostat will stay at the same temperature 24 hours a day.
The main advantage of a programmble thermostat is that you no longer
need to adjust the setting before leaving the house or before bedtime.
Programmable thermostats contribute to overall system performance,
maximizing energy savings while providing complete comfort control.
The precise temperature control of a programmable, energy-saving
thermostat saves wear and tear on high-efficiency heating and cooling
equipment by properly cycling the equipment. Offering set-it-and-forget-it
programming, programmable thermostats make energy savings automatic.
Precise control delivers the comfortable temperature you want while
using the energy most efficiently.
Thermostats Considerations
For over 110 years, Honeywell has been inventing and designing thermostats.
Built with quality and attention to detail with your comfort in mind.
Here are some key things to consider when choosing the model that is right for you.
Why should I purchase a Honeywell thermostat?
Our products are built to last. An example of our dedication to
quality is the precious metal contacts our thermostats use. Other
thermostat manufacturers may use lower quality contacts which can
mean a shorter product life. We also provide protection against
static electricity and power surge. Most of the competition has minimal,
if any, electrical protection.
Why is it important to have accuracy within 1°?
Most people sense a temperature change around 1.8°. Honeywell
thermostats are more accurate than some electronic thermostats
which can vary up to 9°. Most thermostat manufacturers use some
of our thermostat technology - none are as accurate as Honeywell.
What is the difference between a programmable and a non-programmable thermostat?
A non-programmable thermostat has the ability to regulate room
temperature to one desired setpoint. The setting on the thermostat
must be manually changed if a new temperature setpoint is desired.
Programmable thermostats allow flexibility to homeowners because
they can be programmed to match their lifestyle. A programmable
thermostat will keep you and your home comfortable while you are
there to enjoy it, and will change the setpoint at programmed times
to an energy savings level when you are not home. By simply planning
your schedule, you can enjoy the benefits of personalized comfort and enhanced energy savings.
Why select a programmable thermostat?
Installing a programmable thermostat can save you up to 33% on
heating and cooling costs. The thermostat will pay for itself,
usually in the first season of use, and will continue to save you
money year after year. Programmable thermostats are also good for
the environment since they help save energy. Honeywell thermostats
even come preprogrammed with standard settings that can be easily modified.
What is Smart Response?
Honeywell's patented Smart Response Technology takes the guesswork
out of programming your thermostat. This exclusive feature maximizes
energy savings and comfort by providing you with the right temperature
at the right time. Want it 72° at 6am? Simply program the unit that way.
There is no need to set your thermostat for 5:15am and hope your home is comfortable by 6am.
What is 5-2, 5-1-1, and 7-day programming?
We design our thermostats to be easy and convenient for you.
We offer 5-2 programming which enables you to set two temperature schedules -
one for weekdays, the other for weekends. 5-1-1 programming provides you with
the added flexibility of setting different programs for Saturday and Sunday.
And our 7-day programmable units enable you to have varied settings for each day of the week.
How easy is it to install a thermostat?
Installing a thermostat is a simple do-it-yourself home improvement that
can be done in under 30 minutes. Follow these steps and remember to check
the owner's manual before installation.
- Turn off power and remove the old thermostat.
- Label wires, attach thermostat mounting plate to wall and connect wires to terminals.
- Snap thermostat onto mounting plate. (Make sure batteries are installed if necessary.)
- Program new unit.
Is the unit battery operated?
Many of the programmable thermostats require batteries to function.
These models (CT3600, CT3500, CT3400, CT3300, CT3200) all come with batteries
conveniently located in the package.
